Networking Fundamentals & Infrastructure

Course Outline

The Networking Fundamentals & Infrastructure course provides learners with a comprehensive introduction to computer networking concepts, infrastructure design, and modern network technologies.

The course covers essential topics such as networking models, IP addressing, network protocols, physical infrastructure, and cloud-based networking. Learners will develop a strong foundation in how networks operate, how data flows across systems, and how modern network environments are designed and managed.

Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical examples, this programme prepares learners for entry-level roles in networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.

Course Description

Modern digital systems rely on robust networking infrastructures to enable communication, data exchange, and service delivery. This unit introduces the fundamental principles of computer networking, infrastructure design, and modern network technologies.

The unit begins by exploring core networking concepts, models, and architectures, followed by an introduction to physical networking components and infrastructure. It then examines IP addressing, protocols, and services, providing learners with an understanding of how data is transmitted across networks.

Building on this foundation, the course introduces modern networking concepts, including cloud-based networking and emerging infrastructure trends. Learners will also gain insight into network design and management principles.

Throughout the unit, learners will combine theoretical knowledge with practical examples, developing the skills to understand, configure, and support basic network environments.
