Course Description

This 15-hour beginner course provides a practical introduction to microcontrollers and connected systems using the ESP32-C6. No previous programming, electronics or microcontroller experience is required.

Learners develop hands-on skills by building and testing simple electronic circuits, using digital and analogue inputs and outputs, working with sensors, and connecting the ESP32-C6 wirelessly. Later sessions introduce Wi-Fi, embedded web servers, browser-based control, BLE and IoT/MQTT through guided practical activities.

Programming is introduced at a basic level. The lecturer provides the main source code and starter sketches, while students learn to upload, test and make small guided modifications to understand how the software controls the hardware and connectivity.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Have basic computer literacy
  • Be comfortable using a computer and following step-by-step technical instruction
  • Possess basic English language skills

No prior programming, electronics or microcontroller experience is required.

Target Audience

This course is ideal for:

  • Office administrators and clerical staff
  • Students wishing to improve their digital skills
  • Individuals returning to education
  • Career changers entering the digital workforce
  • Business owners and entrepreneurs
  • Teachers and educators
  • Professionals wishing to increase productivity using AI
  • Anyone wishing to become more confident with modern technology

Course Delivery

The course is delivered through:

  • Live instructor-led sessions
  • Hands-on ESP32-C6 practical labs
  • Guided use of lecturer-provided source code
  • Interactive demonstrations of electronics, Wi-Fi, BLE and IoT concepts
  • Practical project work, testing and troubleshooting

The programme emphasises learning by doing. Programming is introduced only at a beginner level and is used as a tool to operate, test and understand the ESP32-C6 and connected hardware.
